What you need and how do you get it?
Before you set up your LoT it is a good idea to do some market
research. You should visit other LoTs. It may be possible to get
some funding for this (Community Learning Exchange in the
UK) including travel, accommodation and/or lunch.
You should also do some market research into what items your
community needs in a LoT. What is necessary in one plave
might not be in another.
You will need premises. Perhaps a local community building
like a library can help, or perhaps the council will give you a
place rent free for a short while. Perhaps a crowd funder will
work well for you.
You will need to find items for you LoT. When word of mouth
gets out, you will have a lot of donations coming your way.
When starting out, you might be able secure some funding for
the initial stock. A social media campaign can be very helpful
and a stall at a street market/fair can engage many locals to
get your message out and acquire donations.
