WELCOME TO THE "LIBRARIES OF THINGS EUROPE" PROJECT WEBSITE!

At ‘Libraries of Things’ (LOTs), members can borrow all sorts of items for free, or at a low cost. Borrowing instead of buying reduces the quantity of items purchased new which may only be only a few times before being eventually discarded. This gives people the opportunity to participate in a circular economy and learn more about climate change. The goals of this project are to create an online interactive platform to catalogue information and resources from LoTs in other countries, to offer advice to others in Europe to set up an LoT and to disseminate the findings of the project. A ‘Libraries of  Things Guide’ will also be created with practical information to help potential LoTs learn how to set them up, organise events and training opportunities.

Aim of the project

The aim of this project is to inspire and enable other organisations to establish Libraries of Things (LoTS). Our aim is to increase provision of the opportunities offered by LOTs such as upskilling adults, raising awareness about climate change, and ensuring accessibility to people with fewer advantages.

Target group

  • Adults who are interested in the topics of environment, recycling and the sharing economy
  • People with fewer opportunities, facing economic, social and cultural obstacles
  • Adult educators
